Web design is about creating visually appealing and functional websites that engage visitors and drive business.

A well-crafted website is essential for building trust and converting visitors into customers. Poor design, slow loading times, and lack of mobile optimization can lead to high bounce rates and lost opportunities.

By understanding the key areas of web design, you can ensure a strong and effective digital presence.

Web design consists of the following key components:

UX Design (User Experience): Creates a smooth and intuitive user journey.
UI Design (User Interface): Ensures a visually appealing and user-friendly layout.
Responsive Design: Adapts the website for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.

UX stands for User Experience. It describes how a person experiences a product, service, or website – from the first interaction to the last. UX is about creating a simple, smooth, and satisfying experience for the user, whether it’s a website, an app, or a physical product.

Good UX design considers:

  • User needs and behaviors

  • Navigation and structure

  • Design and accessibility

  • Speed and functionality

The goal of UX is to enhance the overall user impression, increasing conversions, customer satisfaction, and loyalty.

UI stands for User Interface. It refers to the visual and interactive layer of a digital product – what the user sees and interacts with on a website, app, or software.

UI includes:

  • Colors and typography

  • Buttons and icons

  • Layout and structure

  • Responsive elements and animations

The goal of UI design is to create an attractive, intuitive, and easy-to-use interface that helps users understand and navigate the product. The visual impression should support both functionality and brand identity.

Responsive design means that a website automatically adapts to the screen size of the device being used – whether it’s a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop. The goal is to provide an optimal user experience across all devices.

Mobile optimization is crucial as more users browse the web via mobile devices. Statistics show that over 60% of all internet traffic comes from mobile – making it essential for businesses and websites to be mobile-friendly to retain and engage visitors.

Google uses mobile-first indexing, which means the mobile version of your website is the primary basis for search rankings. A site that isn’t mobile-optimized risks lower visibility in search results.

WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and is an international standard for making websites accessible to people with various disabilities. The guidelines are based on four core principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR).

According to WCAG, for example, images should have alternative text, websites should be navigable by keyboard, and content should be logically structured. This makes websites usable for individuals with visual, auditory, or motor impairments.

WCAG is divided into three levels: A (basic), AA (recommended), and AAA (advanced accessibility). In Sweden, level AA is the standard for public websites, but businesses also benefit from following these guidelines.

Complying with WCAG is not only a way to create a more inclusive digital experience – it’s also smart from an SEO perspective. Search engines value structured and user-friendly code, meaning accessibility often goes hand in hand with better online visibility.

If your website isn’t accessibility-compliant, you risk losing both visitors and trust. Legally, public sector organizations in Sweden are required to follow WCAG 2.1 Level AA, but businesses can also fall under the Discrimination Act if people with disabilities are excluded from digital services.

From a business perspective, poor accessibility means potentially excluding up to 20% of the population – individuals with visual, motor, or cognitive impairments. This can result in lower traffic, fewer conversions, and negative publicity.

Your visibility in search engines is also affected. Google favors user-friendly and well-structured websites – which often aligns with accessibility best practices. Inaccessible sites are more likely to perform poorly in SEO rankings.

Ignoring accessibility can therefore impact your reach, credibility, and business performance. By following WCAG guidelines, you not only improve the user experience for everyone – you also strengthen your brand and boost your digital presence.

A website design should be updated regularly to meet changing user needs, technical requirements, and SEO trends. As a general rule, a full redesign is recommended every 2–3 years—especially if the technology is outdated or your competitors have moved ahead.

In addition to that, content and layout should be reviewed annually to keep messaging, visuals, and features relevant. For example, call-to-actions, forms, and landing pages should be continuously optimized based on user behavior and conversion data.

For best results, ongoing optimization is key—such as quarterly adjustments to site structure, loading times, and SEO. Regular updates not only improve the user experience but also boost search engine visibility.

A modern and high-performing website strengthens your brand, increases conversions, and signals to visitors that your business is active and professional. Ignoring design for too long can have the opposite effect and leave a weak first impression.

Our process

01. Analyse the customer's needs

A webpage is every company’s most important sales person. How it looks and how user-friendly it is has to be prioritised to not miss out on potential customers.

The first step is therefore always to analyze the customer’s needs and wishes regarding the new website.

This includes understanding their brand and target audience, their current online presence, and what has previously worked and not worked for them.

We always strive for an open dialogue with the client to gain a clear picture of what they want and what they aim to achieve.

This includes understanding their brand and target audience, their current online presence, and what has previously worked and not worked for them.

02. Create beautiful and converting websites

Once we understand the customer’s needs and goals, it’s time to design the website. We take into account the customer’s wishes, brand, and target audience, and combine this with our experience in creating visually appealing and high-converting websites.

An important aspect is also responsive design, which means the website should function smoothly on all devices, including mobile phones and tablets.

03. Time to develop the page

After the design is finalized, it’s time to start developing the website. During the development phase, we use a variety of platforms and tools, such as WordPress, Umbraco, and Shopify.

It is important to have a thorough understanding of the chosen tools and to stay updated with the latest technologies and trends in web development. This ensures that the website is fast, stable, and secure.
It is also crucial to optimize the website for search engines to ensure it can be found and indexed, helping it reach potential customers.

04. Keep the page up to date and secure

Once the website is completed, we continue working together with the client to ensure that the site remains updated and secure from external threats.
